The Ultimate Code Breaker - Here are two videos. The first is the trailer for the Imitation Game, an AcademyAward nominee for Best Picture this year. It's the story of how a mathematician named Alan Turing helped to shorten WWII by an estimated 2 years. He and his team broke the "unbreakable" German code machine Enigma, His reward was to be hounded by the British government for being a homosexual and forced to either go to prison of take drugs to "cure" him. He committed suicide after a year of treatment. The second video shows actual footage about the events surrounding the breaking of the German code. There are, of course, many other online videos about this if you want to learn more about it. By the way we have a great deal more to thank Turing for since he was the first to write a computer program and therefore lead the way towards most of our modern computer based technology.
